FAQs on Bidding

Q.   Why did my bid not show up?
A.   It's probably something simple. First, double-check that you followed these steps:
  1. Enter your maximum bid amount on the auction listing page and click on "review bid."
  2. Enter your User ID and password then click on "place bid."
  3. You should then see a bid confirmation page telling you whether you're the current high bidder or have been outbid. When you see this page, your bid has been recorded.
Q.   Can I reduce or retract my bid once it has been placed?
A.   You can't reduce your bid once it has been submitted. Your only option is to retract your bid and re-bid the correct amount. However, since all DairyMarketPlace.com bids are binding, you should only retract bids in an exceptional circumstance.

Q.   Can I increase my maximum bid after I've placed a bid?
A.   You sure can. Simply place a new bid with your new maximum.

Q.   What is a Reserve Price Auction?
A.   A reserve price is the lowest price a seller is willing to take for an item. Sellers can specify a reserve price if they are unsure of the real value of an item. That way they don't have to sell if the market value turns out to be lower than they had hoped. Sellers name their reserve prices when they list an item. The reserve price must be higher than the minimum bid price and it is always kept a secret from buyers. When a reserve price has been set, the notation "reserve not yet met" appears next to the current price on the auction page. Once a bidder meets or exceeds the reserve price, he or she is notified of having met the reserve, and the notation changes to "reserve met."

Q.   How do I learn more about the seller of an item?
A.   The easiest way is to check the comments in the seller's Feedback Profile. This is what other people have had to say about this seller. A link to the seller's Feedback Profile is beneath his or her name on the auction page. Then you should check out the seller's other auctions. A link to his or her other auctions is right next to the Feedback Profile link. After that, correspond directly. Ask questions about the item, about his or her business on DairyMarketPlace.com, and about selling policies. It's commonly done, and it's easy! Just click on a seller's User ID to get an email address. You'll have to enter your own User ID and password when prompted. If you request a user's contact information by using the registered user information request page, you get an email containing the other person's email address, User ID, company, city, state, country, zip code and phone number. Your information is sent to the seller at the same time.

Q.   How do I find my auction results?
A.   Eager to find out if you won? The best way is to use My DairyMarketPlace.com, an at-a-glance trade activity page where you can check your auction results. If you decide to use My DairyMarketPlace.com, don't forget to choose the "30 days worth of ended auctions option."

Or another way is to just head for the Search section!

Q.   >What if the seller doesn't want to sell anymore?
A.   This doesn't happen frequently but it can be disappointing when it does. Lots of people don't access their email daily, so don't immediately assume a seller's ignoring you. Maybe they're just out celebrating their big sale! Give it several days and verify your contact information using the user query form. DairyMarketPlace.com can't "force" a seller to honor the final auction results. As a bidder, what you can do is post appropriate feedback regarding the seller in the Feedback Forum. To get there, go to Services, then Feedback Forum, and select Leave Feedback about a user. Of course, this doesn't quell your disappointment, but it does warn other bidders of potential trouble.

Q.   What if I can't contact the seller by email?
A.   First, check the seller's contact information. You have to be registered to do this. Visit DairyMarketPlace.com's user query page and request your seller's contact information. Both you and the seller will be sent an email with each other's contact information. Of course, this information is to be used solely for DairyMarketPlace.com-related matters! If you think the contact information is wrong, please contact us.
